YOU... SUCK...

Almost three weeks without internet access...

Three weeks of your lies and sick, sorry side-shows - all the while pretending like you have no control over the horrible service(s) you're charging for.

You know what you did.

WHAT-EV-ERRRR

A while back (and we're talking a long time ago), I wrote a short diatribe about the way political winds were blowing (here). It wasn't a rant, really... I was just expressing my frustration with Neo-Cons and their evil talking-head pundits.

This was almost three (count 'em, three) years ago. I've since learned to just ignore blowhards like Glen Beck and Ann Coulter and go about my business.

But someone had to come along and comment on that old post:

OK, so first of all, I enabled anonymous comments on this blog to allow people who don't have G-mail (or other access granting accounts) the option to give some feedback... not so right-wing, KKK nut-jobs could have a go at me. And to top it all off... I totally don't understand what it is they are trying to say!

To the grade-A moron who just had to comment, but didn't have the balls to sign their name: I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK ANYWAY. You obviously don't have the courage (or brains) to back up your convictions, so you can just rot in hell with President Bush, VP Cheney and all the other Republicunts!

OK... NOW I'M PISSED

TMZ.com went public with this photo, from LAPD:
It is unclear how TMZ got this photo, but it breaks my heart to see Rihanna like this.

SAY WHAAAAT???

The news is abuzz with a horrible story: The Tennessee Republican Party Chairman, a candidate for RNC Chairman, sent out a "Holiday CD" featuring a song called Barack The Magic Negro. This is a video of the song

I have a few thoughts, after hearing this song:

1. Out-of-touch antics like this are why you lost the election, Republicans.
2. Racism is racism. There's no defending it (see article here)
3. As angry as I am about the whole Inauguration debacle, I'm not OK with garbage like this

Only in America!

YEAH, BUT...

there's a great deal of celebrating going on in America right now...

Celebrating that took place after California's electoral votes put Obama over the 270 mark and won him the election...

But with all the cheering and yelling, nobody noticed...

PROP 8 PASSED.

I guess we're ready for a black president, but gays have to sit at the back of the bus.

THANKS FOR NOTHING

Well, it turns out Flickr deleted my account because I violated the terms of the user agreement. They won't say which part of the multi-page agreement, and one of the "rules" is don't be creepy... so, with that sort of cutesy, vague asshole behavior (on their part), I am debating whether or not I want to start a new account.

MORAL IMPERATIVE: Bush & Co. Must Resign

I'm not going to bitch and moan about what a horrible President we have - he's the one we're stuck with. While his first term came about under less than honorable circumstances, the second one was a decisive victory. No, we're stuck with him. Or are we?

The recent pardon handed out to Scooter Libby comes as no surprise; we all knew it was coming. The sneaky, underhanded way it was buried in this, the longest 4th of July weekend in years, is a new low. There is a great debate (and by great, I mean large, not impressive) as to whether or not Scooter Libby did anything wrong. But it is no different from the debate over the Rodney King verdict, or the OJ Simpson verdict: we were not the ones on the jury, and the jury's decision is final. Or at least it is for normal Americans, not under the protective wing of the most corrupt, unpopular President of all time.

Consider the following: it has been over 1,000 days since this President declared "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq. The only number larger than that, when it comes to Iraq? The number of dead American soldiers (now over 3,000), the amount of money spent (now in the tens of billions), and the amount of money we now owe to foreign investors to pay for this war (also in the tens of billions).

Consider the following: under his watch, President Bush handed over the MediCare business to private business owners, while members of his party (both legislators and aides) turned around and went to work for these companies who benefited; all while the average medical bills of seniors in America went up, in record amounts.

Consider the following: under this President, the deficit has ballooned to record new highs. The good will our country used to enjoy is now gone, destroyed beyond repair. Our civil liberties have been all but eroded into a former shadow of their once awe-inspiring levels of protection; we were a beacon of all that was good, a singular light of hope in the world... and that light has been slowly dimmed, and now, all but extinguished.

This most recent immoral abuse of the powers of pardon by this administration is the last straw. And sadly, despite the billions upon billions wasted in a war we have no business fighting, and no chance of winning; despite the destruction and failure to rebuild New Orleans; despite the thousands of dead Americans, and even thousands more dead civilians, one act that will haunt this president's historical legacy more than any other will be this stupid pardon. His entire legacy of failure can (and will) be summed up in two words: Scooter Libby.

Is it too late to demand a re-count of the 2000 Presidential Election? Yes.

Is it too late to turn this country around? No. President Bush and Vice President Cheney must resign, for the good of the country. And they must do it NOW.

THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE A GECKO…

…don't even think about hitting the brakes—just run the damn thing over!

Alright, I’m going to spare you the long version of this disaster, to protect your sanity (and what little of it I have left, too). I signed up with Geico insurance a long time ago, thinking it was a better deal than my previous carrier. I mean, hey… their commercials feature that funny, little talking Gecko, so it can’t be all that bad, right?

Flash-forward, to this past fall: My car is broken into, right in front of my house. They bang-up the doors destroy the stereo and completely demolish the ignition core while trying to boost my poor, little soy-rocket. No, they didn’t get away it with, but the might as well have.

I call Geico’s claims department, and they tell me I have two options:

-One is to have the car towed (on my dime) to a mechanic I trust. Geico says they’ll send out a claims-adjuster to any shop I choose, and once they’ve looked it over, they’ll authorize a dollar amount, which will be used to pay me back for any charges I incur. The rep tells me it will be about two or three days before they’ll be able to look at it.

-The other choice is to use the Geico Express Repairs Program, which means they’ll pay to tow my car to a repair facility (about 15 miles away), where they have an on-sight claims adjuster and authorized repair shop. They’ll cover all the costs, after I’ve paid the deductible and work is guaranteed for the life of the car. Oh, and they also guarantee repairs will start on my car within 24 hours of the inspection.

This sounds like a bit of a scam, so I choose plan A. Two days later, they inform me they don’t have any adjusters in my area, and won’t be able to send someone. Ever. They let me know that I can pay for the tow and all repairs out-of-pocket, and when I send in some photos of the damage, they’ll consider reimbursement. So, I opt-in to their program.

A tow truck arrives that day, but the guy doesn’t know where he’s going. After I get directions, I sign all the paperwork, and sit back… thinking my car is going to be fine.

For two weeks, Geico couldn’t tell me where my car was, or how they’d lost it. First, they blamed me for not telling them where I'd sent it. Next, they said I never signed the paperwork to authorize repairswhen I dropped it off... which was the story they stuck to until they tried to bill me... for the tow service.

I’ll spare you the rest of the rancid details, but let’s just say that NOTHING about Geico’s service lived up to the promises and guarantees. Call after call, after call, no one at the repair shop or Geico could tell me what was going on, and they kept saying I was at fault, and never once said they were sorry for the "mix up."

It took almost three weeks before the whole thing got straitened out... at which point I switched to AAA Insurance, and cut my bill in half.
