THIS IS SO DELICIOUS, IT HAS TO BE FATTENING

Thanks to my big sis, Laura for sending me the link to this... that's Rock Hudson, with Bea.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND

R.I.P. BERNIE & ISAAC

Several news reports announced the deaths of two major, African American entertainers this weekend: Comedian Bernie Mac and musician Isaac Hayes both passed away this weekend.

They will both be missed.

CORRECTION

While searching the LA Times archives, I was unable to locate the obituary for Mitch Pileggi. (Actually I gave up after the first couple of pages.) So I'm willing to admit I was mistaken.

So there. No need to call me a liar (although the person that did was a Ginger, and I don't expect them to know better, or how to behave in polite society.)

Cheers!

I REPORT WHAT I READ

There's been some debate as to whether or not Mitch Pileggi is dead or not. I read his obit in the Los Angeles Times, so until they retract the story, I'm standing by it.

GOLDEN & GONE

News wire reports, and MSNBC are reporting that Golden Girl Estelle Getty passed this morning in her Los Angeles home at the age of 84.

I, like many gay men, love watching The Golden Girls and Sophia is/was probably my favorite of the four. (Although Dorthy made me laugh, too.)

She will be missed.

GOODBYE TO SCI-FI

A couple of weeks ago, the world of Sci-Fi film and TV lost two of its greatest actors: Don S. Davis (IMDB here) and Mitch Pileggi (IMDB here). Both were featured on the Stargate programs, and Pileggi was on The X-Files. Its a shame they both died, but kind of cool that they died in the same week.

I enjoyed both mens' performances on their respective shows. They will both be missed.

SAD, SAD NEWS...

I was devastated when I learned of Tammy Faye Messner's recent passing. She was a wonderful woman, a true one-of-a-kind spirit. I had the chance to meet her at the Sundance Film Festival, when she was there promoting the documentary about her, The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Aside from being a great film (it was made by two of my all-time favorite indie filmmakers), it really showed how amazing she was. And how little the public really understood about her struggles, both private and public.

A number of years later, she was on The Surreal Life, on VH-1. She gave an amazing speech to a group of gays and lesbians about hurt, and forgiveness. You could tell she had really been through a tough time in her life, but still managed (somehow) to focus on love; let her efforts focus solely on God's message of everlasting and eternal love and understanding.

She will be missed.

ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS

I was utterly shocked, and saddened, to hear about the sudden (and unexplained) death of Anna Nicole "Trimspa" Smith's son. He was only 20, and died of unknown causes in the Bahamas. He was there for the birth of his baby sister, and very little is known about how he died.

Life is pretty fucker sometimes. All jokes aside, Anna Nicole's life seems to be filled with horrible twists and turns... yes, they happen to all of us. But we don't all live in the public eye the way she does, or with her obvious mental/emotional handicaps. I've been on Trimspa for a while now, and other than the occasion rash (mostly when I've had too much caffine, on top of the T'spa), and over-heating (which is actually something I've always had to deal, just like my dad, but I'm placing the blame on the Spa right now), I haven't had any of Anna's symptoms, or results. I'm losing the pounds, but at about 1/10 of the speed, uh... I mean, time, it took Anna. I don't have her plastic surgeons at my disposal, but I also don't have her problems.

Our universe is in a constant state of change, always moving, and adjusting, but trying to reach equilibrium... now matter how fucked up it may seem.

VIA CON DIOS…

Over the weekend, it was announced that John Spencer (of The West Wing, among others) passed. I love The West Wing, for a number of reasons, but I don't think I truly appreciated what this fine actor brought to the show until this weekend—not just because he died, but because my younger sister and I watched the first three discs of Season Three of The West Wing. In a word: amazing.

He will be missed, and loved… always.
